San Felipe Castle El Estor

Description:
In the morning we visit the San Felipe Castle, which has served as a strong defense for pirates and hostile ships for many years. It has been destroyed several times but has always been rebuilt. After having explored the castle and its history, we continue the tour to El Estor, a local town that used to be an important center of trade, as all export and import passed this place. Foreigners therefore decided to call the town “The Store”, a name which the locals later accidently turned into “El Estor”. Close to El Estor we can find the river Polochic, which runs from west to east covering 194 kilometers. It crosses through Alta Verapaz and ends in Izabal, where it is possible to observe Manatees, Monkeys and Crocodiles. We will end the tour with a visit to the Dark River, a smaller river that will take us through the beautiful mangroves.

Livingston Tours and Surroundings

Day Tour Keys Of Belize

Description:
The Zapotillos Keys is situated in the Caribbean Sea. It is the second largest reef in the world, consists of emerald, crystal-clear waters and is home to an abundance of fish. The reef is situated in the south of Belize, an ex-British colony, and has formerly been in possession of Guatemala, which up to today results in a dispute about the ownership of these beautiful territories in bilateral negotiations. We will travel to the islands by boat, where you can explore the undersea-world with your snorkel. We then go a place called El Cantil, where you will be provided with sandwiches, fruit and purified water on the beach. This marine reserve is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, and therefore there are important rules that must be observed when visiting. You must not fish with spears or remove parts of the reef.

During the afternoon we will enjoy some relaxation at the beach, followed by dinner and a bonfire. We will stay in El Cantial, but we also have the option to stay in a beachside bungalow at Key Limon. On the second day there will be some more time for snorkeling and/or relaxation on the beach, before we have lunch and return to Livingston in the afternoon.
