CULTURAL WALKING TOUR

Walk around in this wonderful city and learn more about the Guatemalan history during colonial times.  We visit the Cathedral and the fountain on the main square while we explain the city history.  From the second floor in the City hall you have a nice view to all the main plazas and the Volcano Agua. We continue to the cloister of Capuchinas, a very good example of the colonial architecture. We visit the San Francisco el Grande Church, one of best-preserved churches in Antigua and the resting place of the first saint in Central-America, Hermano Pedro. We walk to the beautiful baroque church of Nuestra Señora de la Merced. The tour ends in a jade factory, where you can see how Mayans worked in the past and how it is done now. The tour takes about 3 hours. This is a half day tour.

ACTIVE PACAYA VOLCANO

Pacaya is by far the most popular volcano to climb in Guatemala, and not without good reason. The volcano is easy to climb and gives the opportunity to climb an active volcano. On clear days you can see the volcanos Agua, Fuego and Acatenango. If you arrive at the top of the Pacaya you can smell the sulfur, feel the heat and you have a good chance to actually see lava. Our first stop will be at San Juan del Obispo; here we visit the monastery of the first bishop of Guatemala, Francisco Marroquin. We continue to a coffee Plantation. Here we can see the entire process of the coffee bean, from harvesting to shipping. We go on to the Ciudad Vieja. We explain to you the sad history of this town, which was the second city founded by Spanish in Guatemala. We visit the organic macadamia farm were we learn about many medical functions of the macadamia nut. We visit the town San Antonio Aguas Calientes to visit the local cooperative market. We end our tour in a Jade factory, where you can see how Mayans worked in the past and how it is done now. The tour takes about 4 hours. Half day tour

GUATEMALA CITY TOUR FROM ANTIGUA

HISTORY, CULTURE, AND TRADITIONS
This tour will visit the modern Guatemala City. Founded in 1777, it is the fourth city in Guatemalan history. We will see the museum of anthropology and ethnography near to airport. Here you will find some of most exquisite pieces of all the archeological sites of the Petén area. We go to the civic center where you will see the justice palace, the national bank, Guatemala's City Hall, social security building. We continue downtown for watch the beautiful Palacio Nacional de la Cultura you can see in this place the official saloons for all the diplomatic events, the cathedral and main plaza too. We will drive through Avenida de la Reforma, Centro Civico y Centro Historico.
