Day 1

Collective shuttle from Antigua to Aldea La Soledad, Acatenango Volcano.
Start walking to the camp, when you arrive at the top, you will have lunch time, some free time in the afternoon.

Day 2

Wake up at 04:30 am, time to have breakfast and then you start walking up to the top, view the sunrise from this area. After the sunrise, you start to descend around 07:00 AM, and return to Antigua, arriving around 11:00-12:00 Hrs.

Route 1

Especially for novice, people who like adventure and nature. You will visit villages around Antigua such as San Antonio Aguas Calientes, San Miguel Duenas with macadamia farm , Ciudad Vieja (supposedly the first capital of Guatemala) , San Pedro Las Huertas and San Juan del Obispo.

Route 2

Bike tour for adventurous people who really like adrenaline shots. Especially for people who have the skills and are in good physical conditions. You will visit the surroundings (also mountains) of Antigua, Finca El Pilar and El Mirador, there are more rocky and wooded places along this route. So just be prepared for a physical experience.

Cultural Walking Tour Antigua Guatemala

 

Walk around in this wonderful city and learn more about the Guatemalan history during colonial times.

We visit the Cathedral and the fountain on the main square while we explain the city history. From the second floor in the City hall you have a nice view over all the main plazas and the Volcano Agua. We continue to the cloister of Capuchinas, a very good example of the colonial architecture. We visit the San Francisco el Grande Church, one of best-preserved churches in Antigua and the resting place of the first saint in Central-America, Hermano Pedro. We walk to the beautiful baroque church of Nuestra Señora de la Merced. The tour ends in a jade factory, where you can see how Mayans worked in the past and how it is done now. The tour takes about 3 hours. This is a half day tour.

Pacaya Volcano

Pacaya is by far the most popular volcano to climb in Guatemala, and not without good reason.

The volcano is easy to climb and gives the opportunity to climb an active volcano. On clear days you can see the volcanos Agua, Fuego and Acatenango. If you arrive at the top of the Pacaya you can smell the sulfur, feel the heat and you have a good chance to actually see lava.

LAKE ATITLAN TOUR

Enjoy of a tour at the lake, learning about different cultures of Lake Atitlan, the textiles, pictures and history.

We start our tour in San Marcos la Laguna, place where we’ll appreciate its nature, the silence and the birds’ song. The second stop will be in San Juan la Laguna, place where it’s known for his textiles and his pictures, we’ll see how do they prepare natural dyes and later on, how to use the loom, and we will also practice and learn about it.

We will move to San Pedro la Laguna where we’ll visit its local market and also its church, and at the end we will taste a harvested coffee in this town; the tour will finish in Santiago Atitlan the biggest town of Atitlan’s area, we will learn about the history of the tocoyal, his historic church, his market were we can appreciate the colors of the local costume and without missing the visit to Maximón, one of the Mayan saints of the place.

At the end of the afternoon we return to Panajachel.
