special of the month

The majority of inhabitants of San Martín Sacatepéquez are indigenous from the Mam tribe. For them, the Laguna Chicabal is sacred and miraculous. The shape of the Laguna and the fog that shrouds the volcano only serve to enhance the mysticism of the place. Maya priests perform traditional sacrificial ceremonies on the shore using candles, flowers and holy crosses. Our local guides will take you to the Chicabal Lagoon to experience the ancient beauty first hand. You can learn about the Maya religion, Maya culture and about the different plants and animals.
