Semuc Champey

Visit now the most beautiful natural surroundings of Guatemala. Meet as Guatemala´s hidden jewel, this incredible site is a mixture of exotic green and sky colored pools. An ideal place for swimming and relaxation. The tour start with a visit to Semuc Champey, famed for its great natural limestone bridge (300m long) thought this bit of paradise, the beauty of its setting and the perfection of the pools, ranging from turquoise to emerald-green, make it worth it. Then the tour continues with a visit to the caves of Lanquin. Aside from funky stalactites mostly named for animals, these caves are crammed with bats; at sunset, they fly out of the mouth if the cave in formations so dense they obscure the sky. We will also visit the beautiful waterfalls of Lanquin surrounded by a natural cloud-forest.

The mystery’s Quetzal bird awaits you in its green cloud forest, with its waterfalls and giant ferns. About 5 km away, we will visit a cloud forest at the Biotopo del Quetzal. Here you can see waterfalls and the beautiful nature of the place. The tour continues with a visit at the National Park, visiting a large cave system 61 km from Coban. Two walking trails cut through the cloud forest, where visitors can see about 50 different types of trees and a variety of tropical birds such as toucans, hummingbirds and macaws. There are 2 walking tours, you can choose between a walking tour for about 1 ½ hour and one of 3 hours! You are free to do what you prefer! We end our tour in the municipality Tactic, a colorful town where we will visit El Templo de Chixim. This church has a miracle Jesus which attracts pilgrims from all over Guatemala (particularly on January 1st and 15th, the day of the Black Saint of Chixim). The walls of the room to the left of the main altar are covered with plaques of thanksgiving for miracles ascribed to El Señor de Chixim. Caves of Bombilpek

The town of Chisec, 66 km north from Coban is becoming a centre for reaching several exciting destinations. From Chisec we will visit the jungle surrounded ´Lagunas de Sepalau and the caves of Bombilpek. Laguna Sepalau is situated between the Icoblay and Chixoy rivers and is surrounded by a thick tropical jungle with a great variety of exotic fauna. The caves of Bombilpek are of great importance for today’s' and yesterday's Maya rituals. In the ceremonial area of the caves monogram pictures can be admired. The archaeological site is in the outside area. A small ceremonial centre, a plaza and a ball court.
